Res publica(Latin) or Republic is a form of governance where the head of state is not a “Monarch” & the people have an impact on the goverment.26th January 1929,Lahore Session presided by Congressman, Jawaharlal Nehru, announced the day to be observed as the “Poorna Swaraj Divas” & that very reason instigated the founding father’s of Republic India to adopt India’s Constitution on 26th Jan 1950, 2 months later when it was passed on 26th Nov 1949.
The Indian Republic is ready to celebrate its 61st Republic Day with jubiliance, zeal, scintillating shows & fascinating tableaux. This hallowed occasion was a harbinger of gratification for Jasuben , Hemant Mahajan, Francis, Mehrat Ali & other freedom fighter’s. Still Republic Day, does brings peace to Tanuja,a college going student, as she get’s a bonus holiday in the name of a “national holiday”. True, such national “festivals” are reduced only as holidays for not just Tanuja, but for more than a majority of the population. 60 years into the life of being a Socialist, Secular & a Democratic country, seems to have diluted the “Indian within every Indian”. It appears that the act of breast-beating on every issue without taking pragmatic steps to solve the problem, has made us traitors to our motherland. The sight of a “Babu” counting soiled 100 rupees notes with his office walls studded with photos of Gandhi,Lal Bahadur Shastri & Pandit Nehru. Living democracy through official stamps, photo frames or statues is splintering Republic India. The disparity between different religious groups still shows adherence to the “Divide & Rule” theory the Britishers devised to rule India .Fundametal religious ideologies & social dogmas are maneuvered for personal benefits by unscrupulous political groups. Ayodha’s “ Ram Janambhoomi” & the 2002 Godhra anti-communal riots were platforms where man’s insatiable greed & communal hatred was mobilized by a group of desperado’s to deter India’s peace & tranquility. The “Mai-Baap” form of governance is another added module of Democracy, where political groups turn into contemporary “Mafia’s” siphoning money from the common public treasures into their private Swiss accounts & later lament on India’s poor state of affairs. With 15 percent of the 150 tainted member’s of the Lok Sabha accused of committing murder, are we really exercising the power to vote? .The ballot paper is the only solution to purge democracy tunnels & initiate the “people’s rule”. Conferring atrocities upon immigrants of another state by the natives of that state & calling them “unwanted lots” is the “Unity in Diversity” we boast of !!! Incidents that happened in Mumbai against Biharis was a condemnable act & was no less than a nightmare. Do we require a “maseeha” to stop us from yet another partition? .The memories of ’47 Partition still vests in the minds of the 2 main communities of our country. The early we realize that being strong from within can only bring social reforms in the country, the better it is for our country.
Becoming a contemporary Gandhi might prove a tough row to hoe for many, but sabotaging every single Gandhian ideology will dilapidate the pillars of the India’s success. The remedy to scrutinize the Law enforcement agencies is by proper awareness of the Law’s itself..Right to Information Act 2005 mandates timely response to citizen requests for government information. It is a vital tool in the hands of every Indian & can combat corruption on a large scale. Either we accommodate Corruption as another pillar of democracy or nip it in the bud .The cosmopolitan lanes has to alter its sense of righteousness so that that contemporary patriotism can get embarked. It’s your time to be the David against the diverse Goliath’s plundering our nation progress. Inculcating national outlook over regional outlook amongst the younger generation can flourish traffic through many deserted areas. Let us show the world what India was really envisaged by those who made it Republic .
“Koi bhi desh perfect nahi hota, use perfect banana padta hai.
Police mein bharti honge, military join karenge. IAS ban kar is desh ki sarkar chalaenge.
Ye desh badlega, hum badlenge isse.” ………Remember who said it!!!!!!!!
